Children's Administration is currently searching for dynamic, motivated and culturally competent on-call Social Service Specialists to join our After Hours Program within Region 2 which includes King, Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom Counties.

This job is at the Social Service Specialist 3 level, although we may consider hiring persons who are at the Social Service Specialist 2, and Social Service Specialist 1 levels.

In an on-call appointment the work is intermittent in nature, is sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. The primary work hours for this job will be nights and weekends, including holidays.

Some of what you'll be doing: You'll provide coverage to the entire Region 2, consisting of 6 counties to include King, Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom. After consult with and being dispatched by a supervisor, you will investigate reported incidents of suspected child abuse and neglect. You will make contact with law enforcement, parents and the alleged victim and other collateral's to determine the validity of the complaint; perform a risk assessment of the family and develop a goal oriented plan; or contact the family as needed to alleviate the situation. You will contact law enforcement to take a child into custody in situations when the child cannot return home. Complete all necessary paperwork needed for documentation including summary assessment and SER as required, staff case with supervisor, and route all paperwork to appropriate office.

For Family Reconciliation Services, upon supervisor assignment, worker will respond to local police departments to assess family conflicts. Make contact with child and parents and determine risk to family members.

You'll respond to foster homes in an effort to preserve placement. Offer services to foster parent as needed. Supervise children in the office awaiting placement. Find placement and transport child as needed.

You'll provide intake backup coverage for Child Protective Services, Family Reconciliation Services and Child Welfare Services, as needed. This includes emergency child welfare checks on assigned cases and/or health and safety checks.

Who should apply? Professionals with one of the following: A Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or a related field. Or A Master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or a related field.
