Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for a full-time employee to work on-site with our client. This position will work within the Transmission Line Design (TELC) organization. The Electrical Effects Engineer will provide support in the development of designs, drawings, standards, and specifications related to the electrical effects in transmission line design and maintenance; perform field investigations and inspections related to electrical effects.This position is located in Vancouver, WA.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for preliminary review of Right of Way permit applications and Land Use Requests.

  • Perform clearance and electrical effects analyses to evaluate the impact of proposed Right of Way activity.

  • Provide technical input and recommendations to the Transmission Line Design Group on planned and active expansion and sustain projects in the area of electrical effects, corona, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, corrosion, switch maintenance and operation, obstruction lighting and marking.

  • Provide technical information related to electrical effects engineering at meetings with the public, stakeholder or project team meetings, and/or management briefings.

  • Provide information and review electrical effects section of Environmental Impact Statement during transmission projects design to verify that public and environmental concerns are addressed and the construction can move forward.

  • Provide engineering support to Transmission Line Maintenance Technical Services group resolving field issues associated with electrical effects, corona, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, corrosion, switch maintenance and operation, obstruction lighting and marking.

  • Produce and review engineering design drawings, schematics, and specifications, resolve discrepancies and update design documents as necessary.

  • Research problems, information, materials, and practices, and compile technical data to assist other engineers or the field. Suggest solutions or prepare designs as needed.

  • Draft and review standards, specifications, work standards and guides, and other pertinent engineering documents.

  • Conduct special engineering studies (corrosion engineering, lightning protection and grounding, insulator performance, and failure investigation)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other closely related engineering degree isrequired.

  • 5+ years of practical engineering experience in electrical engineering isrequired.

  • 3+ years of power transmission (115kV and above) or distribution (7.2kV to 115kV) design isrequired.

  • Solid knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principlesand practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission (115kV and above) or distribution (7.2kV to 115kV) system isrequired.

  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze surveying information, plan and profile maps, engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams isrequired.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlookrequired

  • Experience using PLS-CADD is highly desirable

  • Experience with using/reading/understanding drawings, records, systems, and programs is highly preferred.

  • Experience using Bentley ProjectWise and MS SharePoint is desired.

  • Must be able to perform effectively in a project team environment and effectively manage multiple work assignments and changing priorities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Up to 10% travel to field locations is anticipated.

  • Up to 5% Overtime is expected.

  • Must possessa valid U.S. driver’s license
