Job Summary:

The First Year Experience Programs (FYEP) program coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of First Year Experience Serving as one of two professional positions within FYEP, this person assists in the operation of Student Leader Training and Development, Spring New Student Orientation, Marketing and Communications, and Fall New Student Orientation. The program coordinator will work as a part of a team with the Assistant Director, a graduate assistant, five-person undergraduate student leadership team, GUide Core, and student office assistants to provide theory and best practice research in the development of department programming. The program coordinator supports the mission of the University and FYEP’s mission by developing and facilitating an exemplary program of New Student Orientation and yearlong transitional programs.

The Program Coordinator is expected to function independently using discretion and maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in relation to student and personnel matters.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree Two – four years’ experience in related field of work. General knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends of the Student Affairs field and a commitment to working with a diverse student body to further the work of creating a just and inclusive community Proficiency on Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and Power Point; working knowledge of social media/writing experience. Demonstrated ability to relate and collaborate with students, faculty/staff, and the public. Demonstrated skill in public speaking and written communications. Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends. Two or more years of experience planning, coordinating, and executing medium to large-scale events students in a higher education setting. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Demonstrated experience in conducting student leadership training programs, program planning and development, and assessment in a college environment. Prior experience working with college-level students in their transition into a university. Experience developing leadership programming for college students. Proven effectiveness in relating to and supporting student leaders in a higher education environment.
