Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations is the team behind the cloud. MCIO is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. Within MCIO, the Datacenter Execution (DCX) team is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects with specific safety, quality, schedule and cost goals.
Our Systems Engineering team delivers innovative solutions to address the automation needs to scale our delivery capabilities. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to deliver automation capabilities that power the long-range execution planning efforts, drive workflow improvements and build solutions to assist in the delivery of large scale data centers through efficient management of cost and schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience with:
Managing engineers in an Agile environment for iterative releases
Building and maintaining reliable, scalable and secure services with a DevOps team
Building and supporting services using Azure IAAS/PAAS technologies (ex: Cloud Services, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage, KeyVault, Service Fabric, Azure Active Directory, etc.)
Leading architectural & design discussions targeting availability, scalability, performance and maintainability
Working with Engineering Managers to drive the vision for automation and productivity improvements across the various teams involved in DataCenter strategy and design Delivering solutions to support the automation needs of the team across cost and schedule management, driving workflow systems development and closed loop systems from execution to planning
10+ years of professional experience developing software
3+ years of experience in managing technical teams
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
5+ years building and supporting scalable, secure and highly available online services
Curiosity with a desire to continuously learn, share and collaborate to improve yourself, your directs, and your teammates
Willing to lead by example, both technically and interpersonally
