The Chief of Staff of the Office, Information Protection team will report directly to the Corporate Vice President and balance responsibilities spanning our rhythm of the business, communications, executive management, and culture.

Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

-Manage an effective rhythm of the business including leadership activities, meeting agendas, logistics and follow-ups both within the team and across Microsoft.

-Drive communications focused on reinforcement of the team's mission, strategy, culture and progress and employee engagement.

-Structure headcount and financial budgeting and reporting in partnership with Finance, Executive Assistants and budget owners.

-Drive key projects as required by the CVP and leadership team including customer engagements, business analysis and organizational changes.

-Facilitate organization excellence by synthesizing team feedback, working on development, diversity and leadership initiatives and acting as a sounding board for all levels of the team.

-Support internal and external storytelling in team meetings, planning offsite and large external Microsoft events such as Ignite via presentations, blogs, email, etc.


-The Chief of Staff position requires an individual who can anticipate and understands how to get things done at Microsoft through influence by leveraging your extensive interpersonal and collaboration skills. In addition, you must have experience in strategic planning, simplification, execution, building relationships and working with executives at all levels.

-The Chief of Staff should have strong analytical/problem solving skills, demonstrated success in driving complex strategies and projects, outstanding cross group organizational skills and agility, strong communication skills (verbal and written), proven project management skills and be a motivated self-starter who must never become satisfied with the status quo.

-You will need to understand industry trends, our product strategy and progress in depth to help our plans and communication.

-Since this a management position, you must be an effective people manager with a track record to match.? You should also enjoy working under pressure and deadlines, and be flexible with tolerance for and ability to manage ambiguity and uncertainty (which are important for success in this role).

-You will be expected to represent the Exec at forums when they cannot be present.


-10+ years or related experience, preferably in the areas of executive staff management (chief of staff role), business development, or corporate investments.

-A Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree, such as an MBA.

-Leading cross-disciplinary virtual teams and driving key business development initiatives from creation to implementation in partnership with senior Microsoft executives.

-Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership on complex business topic

-Ability to communicate and influence all levels from senior executives on down and all functions

-Understanding of technology industry trends and strong aptitude to understand and communicate Microsoft?s product roadmap
