This position is a Full-Time TERM position. This position will work on the park 's social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, and You Tube) and producing text, visual/video, and audio-description material for the Olympic NP version of the NPS Mobile App. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed thirteen months, with possible extensions up to a total of four years without further competition.
Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2018
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

The incumbent of the position serves as a visual information specialist who supports public outreach through multi-media projects. .Work includes supporting program plans developed by program supervisors for the visual aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, slides, and charts used in books, magazine, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communication such as web content where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are predetermined. Visual information is communicated by means of printed material, exhibits, oral presentations and a
- varlety of web-based products.
Park and Duty Location Information: Often referred to as "three parks in one", Olympic National Park protects 922,651 acres of three distinctly different ecosystems - rugged glacier capped mountains, over 73 miles of wild Pacific coast and magnificent stands of old-growth and temperate rain forest. Port Angeles is a city with a population of approximately 20,000 people. - You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. - You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: Proficiency in Video Production - Candidates for this vacancy must demonstrate their proficiency and experience in video production activities including all of the following - taking project theme/subject through storyboarding; scouting appropriate locations; finding on screen talent; filming with appropriate lighting and sound; and editing film and audio footage with computer software including the ability to caption content (audio and visual) for use on various of platforms such as website, social media or Mobile app. This must be documented in resume, with specific examples sited in the work history and incluing a reference who can verify this proficiency and experience. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position.
- AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-1084-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: the use of modern computer technology to plan the preparation of photographs, to plan the preparation of illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, development of visually-oriented websites and other electronic media, to communicate information visually. You must include hours per week worked.
OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of graduate level education that is specifically related to the work of the position. Examples of specialized graduate study could include a major study in commercial art, photography, visual communication, videography, graphic design, cinematography, film studies, film/video production, digital filmmaking, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the production of digital videos. (One year of graduate education is 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours). You must include transcripts.
OR- Successful completion of an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institutionwith your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
Physical Demands: The work is normally sedentary and requires long periods of stationary work at a computer work-station. Work may require moderate physical exertion fabricating exhibits and signs; working from ladders, and lifting and working with maintenance staff installing signs and exhibits. Field visits may be necessary for on-site inspection of phases of the production of a visual product The incumbent occasionally must lift moderately heavy objects and operates hand tools and power tools .such as hammers, screwdrivers, levels, rivet guns, saws, drills, etc.
Working Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical office setting, however, when work is performed outside the office, it may be in field environments or at dirty, dusty, cold, hot, wet or some otherwise uncomfortable . Locations indoors and outdoors, where the exhibit or display is located. Work involves moderate risks or discomforts such as working with power tools.
