This job contributes to REI’s success by delivering strategic leadership and direction for REI's Product Content Studio teams. This leadership role is pivotal to creating and executing a strategic plan to accelerate REI’s digital commerce growth while managing costs, increasing productivity, and enhancing team performance. This position is responsible for providing leadership direction for the creative development and execution of all product (gear & apparel) related media including video, photography, and product information.
The Senior Manager is a dynamic operations leader with demonstrated experience in content workflow management and lean continuous process improvement. This person will drive quality improvement initiatives, develop and implement technology and tools to reduce time to market, and partner with leadership to achieve enterprise-wide initiatives to continue to increase our product content production year over year.
The role requires decision making for creative development and content creation, budget management, production schedules, team building and staffing, technology, tools, applications, and content administration.
The Senior Manager acts as leader for maintaining a corporate culture and values as established by REI.
Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
Provides strategic leadership to deliver the highest quality product by creating an atmosphere that supports creativity and innovation.
Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages.
Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results, think outside the box and elevate the work they contribute to within the broader REI organization.
Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results.
Establishes and maintains visibility within the department.

Creative and Production leadership
Product Content Studio deliverables include content (photos, videos, product information) for REI.com product pages, along with other REI digital/print properties
Works closely with the DVP of Brand Lab & CSS to develop photo and video content strategies and messaging in support of product stories for Marketing campaigns and REI digital channels
Directs the Media Studio to deliver on the goals of primary stakeholders across Marketing GTM strategies and Digital teams to deliver a superior customer experience on all digital channels.
Dynamic motivator and hands-on leader who has a track record of successfully managing workflows of editorial, photography, production and operations teams
Provide ongoing vendor management to ensure quality and manage cost balancing brand needs with operational efficiency.
Produce and deliver, both on-time and on-budget, high quality and engaging photo, video and editorial product content that meets the brand standards and creative direction
Drives the future course of the product Photo/Video creative standards for the print and digital channels
Provide an integrated proactive workflow management system and collaborate across internal functions, and with external vendors, to streamline processes and normalize our production operations around best practices
Manage and improve processes to existing schedules and reduce delays by ensuring product photography, editorial and production staff are aligned
Develops continuous improvement strategies in marketing processes & tools. Lead and develop new processes for the adoption of Great Operators lean principles to drive down costs and increase productivity
Create and lead metrics driven process to ensure teams are working at maximum capacity to meet goals and scale effectively
Maintains relationships with all senior leadership and Co-op clients
Works cross-divisionally on vendor content acquisition improvement efforts to drive operational efficiencies
Communicates progress, obstacles and solutions to partners and leadership for the successful delivery of Co-op initiatives
Creates development path and training standards for teams within the Product Content Studio
Provide guidance, solutions and mentorship to team, hiring new staff and managing performance
Ensure team stays on track and on budget to meet deadlines, and is managed to scale aggressively over the next several years
Oversees the expense management of Product Content Studio expenses. Oversees the expense management of, including $3MM in operational studio budgets.
Participates in monthly budget reviews to manage monthly and year-to-date studio finances.
Ensure expense management tools & processes enable cross-functional management of shared program lines.
