This job contributes to REI’s success by supporting the Product Strategy team in managing key elements of our business. The APM develops tools and manages preparation for milestone meetings, data integrity and analysis. This role owns competitive research, event support (training, brand showcase, product playground, marketing, etc) and sample management. In addition, APM will be responsible for managing a subcategory of business which entails leading through category seasonal strategy and in season management. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

  • Owns a business category, with direction from Sr. Product Manager from seasonal kick-off through buy-ready including line plan development, etc.

  • Owns data integrity within seasonal line plans along with alignment between Co-op Brands’ product development system and Merchandising style plans for their team.

  • Creates accurate documents for their team that drive the article create process in collaboration with Assistant Category Managers and the Data Team. Follows the article create process through to completion.

  • Manages the ordering and tracking of seasonal product samples in support of cross divisional marketing of key stories. Maintains sample library as needed for Product Strategy team.

  • Mines data for the team including standard weekly sales reports and seasonal hind sighting as well as industry data in support of creating seasonal product strategies and developing new business.

  • Owns and maintains a team calendar to ensure workload balance, on time achievement of milestone dates and clear cross departmental milestone alignment.

Bring your passion and expertise

  • 3+ years merchandising, retail, marketing, or customer service experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising or related subjects

  • Proven PC and systems proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Skilled user of Adobe Illustrator

  • Ability to work collaboratively within the product strategy team and across functional areas and divisions.

  • Strategic mindset and understanding of marketplace as it pertains to further developing REI categories of business.

  • Project management experience

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.

  • Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.

  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
