Evergreen Fire and Security Corporate Safety Manager in Tacoma, Washington
Job Description: Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Corporate Safety Manager (CSM) position include ensuring compliance with the regulatory encumbrances of Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations Subparts: 1900, 1910, and 1926, The US Army Corps of Engineers Safety Manual, EM 385-1-1 (15 Nov 2014) and WISHA regulations WAC 296-800 via audits, training, communications, and other programs. Additionally it includes managing Evergreen and Affiliate s safety program as well as managing the site safety and health officers jointly with site managers. CSM may be asked to conduct OSHA training for Evergreen and Affiliates as needed. Job Duties and Functions: * Provides leadership, training, and general guidance to site safety and health officers in conjunction with the site manager * Develops policies and best practices for site safety and health officers * Ensures that all work performed at Evergreen Fire and Security and in its name is done in a safe manner in compliance with state and federal OSHA regulations * Directs activities of safety committee and may provide safety training * Advises management on safety problems and corrections * Formulates and suggests work safety standards, and enforces safe work procedures * Coordinates inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with departments * Provides guidance to field personnel with safety briefings * Administers the day-to-day management of the company s safety program * Provides regulatory guidance on matters of safety compliance and answer employee s questions or concerns about safety related subject matter * Evaluates existing safety methods and procedures and makes recommendations on solutions to safety specific issues * Functions as the corporations authoritative source for safety regulations * Monitors federal and state regulatory publications such as the Federal Register and subscribes to various state Labor and Industry and association publications to stay abreast of regulatory rulemaking that may impact the corporations operations * Notifies senior management of pending changes and their potential impact on the company and designs solutions to meet regulatory compliance requirements * Authors all safety specific documents on behalf of the corporation, including project Accident Prevention Plans, Job Hazard Analysis (Activity Hazard Analysis), Hazardous Energy Control Program, Emergency Response Plans, Hazard Communication Program, Fall Protection Program, Confined Space Program, Asbestos and Lead Programs, Respiratory Protection Program, Trenching Program and Critical Lifts. * Designs and publishes company safety forms * Authors weekly Toolbox Safety Topics, the company Safety Manual, and other documents as directed by upper management * Authors and designs employee training programs primarily associated with safety topics, but will also author and publish training programs specific to any topic assigned by senior management (these programs are published through LCMS for inclusion in available courses through Evergreen University) * Travels to out-based locations to meet with company and customer personnel and compliance officers and perform safety reviews * Provides monthly reporting of subcontractor man hours worked and accident and injury reporting to the US Army Corps of Engineers, and tracks and publishes reports within SharePoint (reports are due on or before the 7th day of each month) * Maintains the Safety pages within SharePoint and manages the safety content Employer's Job# 512649-583271 Please visit job URL for more information about this opening and to view EOE statement.
