We are seeking teaching faculty and subject matter experts for our Teacher Certification Program, including our Masters and Bachelors in Teaching and Alternative Route programs. The ideal candidates will be creative and flexible, possess superior time management skills and have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • K-8 teaching experience (including superior instruction, assessment and classroom management skills)

  • Subject matter expertise in at least one or more of the following core competencies:

  • math

  • language arts

  • science

  • social studies

  • special education

  • English-Language Learner/English as a Second Language

Course Details: Courses may be a combination of online, in-class or both and may include weekend hours as needed.

Job Description:

Summary:

Part-time Teaching Faculty at City University of Seattle have three key responsibilities:

  • Striving for excellence in teaching and learning,

  • Fostering student development, and

  • Maintaining currency in their profession.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a master's degree; a PhD ispreferred.

  • Must have relevant professional experience and/or advanced training ? including relevant coursework at the masters level.

  • Must have a valid Washington State Educator Certificate (Teacher, Program Administrator, Principal or combination).

  • Must have teaching experience and subject matter expertise in at least one core competency (math, language arts, science, social studies) and/or in special education.

  • Instructional experience isdesired.

  • Proficiency and experience in online environments, including experience as an online instructor.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.

  • Ability to work in a team oriented system, deal effectively with professional staff, other part-time faculty, adult and culturally diverse students.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals and documents.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, staff members and Program Coordinator.

  • Ability to effectively present information in writing and orally to students, staff, faculty and university management.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience with Blackboard teaching software or other similar academic platformdesired.

Salary Information:

The Part-time Teaching Faculty salary is based on the level of course (graduate, undergraduate) and the number of course credits (1-9).
