Your job is help Avalara’s slogan of “Making sales tax less taxing” come true for our thousands of customers by building well structured rich-client applications. Our ideal developer knows HTML, CSS, and Javascript inside and out and wants to develop interactive and ambitious web apps with intuitive functionality. You want to make some of the most complex business problems (tax rules!) deceptively simple. You’re worked through the full software development lifecycle in the past and have participated in Agile development teams. You are proactive, relentlessly drilling into user requirements until the stage is set for a beautiful solution You will be working in a team devoted to building a consistent UX across all products rather than as a contributor on a multidisciplinary team. The challenges and collaboration will be fun.
Required Experience:

* A minimum of 3 years related work experience or equivalent education
* Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript
* Knowledge of when to use HTML5 and CSS3, along with device and browser fallbacks
* Experience with jQuery and writing and modifying plugins
* Experience with Javascript presentation frameworks – backbone, ember, angular, knockout etc.
* An innate eye for beautiful, usable design
* Experience with Illustrator and Photoshop
* Working knowledge of Git
* Writes well-abstracted, scalable and reusable code
* Ability to test and debug your code and code of others, with an eye on performance
* Ability to work in high-traffic environments and cloud-deployed applications
* Experience with code optimization and browser caching
* Can read, understand and modify code written by others
