Senior Support Engineer in Seattle, Washington

You are a senior support engineer with a passion for building engineering excellence applications, and supporting large scale customer facing systems. In this new position, you will define the long term strategy to best serve our customers and keep the operational load the fast-growing Amazon Prime Pantry business among the lowest at Amazon.

As Senior Support Engineer in the Amazon Pantry team, you will work in a high quality, creative, visionary environment to innovate and maintain the technology platform that powers the Amazon Pantry program on multiple marketplaces. You will be responsible for setting operational goals, driving and supervising the execution of engineering excellence projects for the whole team. You will make the difference in how engineering excellence is conceived and executed across the Pantry development and business teams.

You are a strong detail oriented owner, have great written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure.

You will help to quickly identify and root cause problems that affect both internal and external customers. You will contribute to define, drive, and implement short and long term solutions to prevent the same problems from happening again. You must be able to accurately prioritize tasks, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

Prime Pantry is a fast-growing innovative e-commerce program, launched in US in April 2014. With the unique patent pending business model, Prime Pantry enables Amazon to expand its selection to large number of items which are cost prohibitive to ship individually. The market segment of low priced items represents a major part of retail revenue but minimum e-commerce penetration and thus huge potential growth. Prime Pantry has been one of the fastest growing program in the history of Amazon. It had expanded to 8 countries at the end of 2016.

B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of overall development/technical support experience.

    • 2+ years of experience in development of engineering excellence tools.
  • Development experience on both Structured and Object oriented languages.

  • Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating system.

  • Knowledge of ticketing systems such as Remedy and Jira.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.

  • Demonstrates skill and passion for operational excellence.

  • Excellent documentation skills.

  • Other desired technical skills include Javascript/CSS and HTML.

Previous working experience with user interface design or hands-on experience of web design technologies such as CSS, Javascript, and HTML is preferred.
