Amazon.com Manager, Business Analytics in Seattle, Washington

We own end-to-end Reverse Logistics, which includes technology, business, operation and finance. We are looking for a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. You’ll lead a team of analysts to develop new and innovative analyses to aid business teams in decision making, discover insights, and develop long term strategies with data. You will design and implement key metrics for new initiatives, redesign existing metrics and find ways to innovate various reporting tools. You will be a thought leader and mentor to business analysts globally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to define and build key metrics for various new business initiatives. Provide vision, direction, and day-to-day management for the team

  • Lead development and implementation of scalable, data-driven solutions for Customer Returns, Exchanges, and post-purchase supports generated via mobile, mobile app, and web channels

  • Monitor existing metrics, analyze data and partner with internal teams to identify process and system improvement opportunities

  • Manage challenges associated with investigating and understanding large data sets and building predictive models based on the data

  • Work with product managers and engineering teams to define and prioritize data science and analytics projects

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify the risks and opportunities associated with transportation, FC Operations, and Retail business

  • Partner with the leadership team to identify high-impact opportunities that leverage our extensive data to better serve our customers

  • Facilitate numerous data-driven efforts to customize our product suite experience based on individual user profiles, needs, and interests

  • Help identify quality sources of data and emerging tools, vendors, and systems in order to improve existing architecture and processes

  • Establish a repeatable process and structure to scale the business

  • 5+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment

  • 5+ years of people management and cross department functional experience

  • 3+ years of experience in architecting data warehouse solutions and integrating technical reporting tools

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information System, Math, Finance, Statistics, Analytics, Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience in relational database concepts with a solid knowledge of Oracle SQL and MySQL

  • Experience in designing and delivering cross functional custom reporting solutions by managing technical teams

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in capacity planning for hardware and storage needs

  • Experience managing technical staff performance including goals, performance reviews, and coaching

  • Proven ability to work successfully in an ambiguous and fast pace environment

  • Mastery of Excel

  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analysis

  • The right candidate will know how to hire talented BI Analysts and Data Engineers, and know how to develop staff at any level of performance

  • Master degree or MBA

  • Proven experience in BI/DW as a change leader providing strategic research, recommendations, and implementations

  • Experience building, managing or maintaining an enterprise data warehouse

  • Experience working with unstructured data sources and turning them into a unified solution

  • Experience on data visualization tools such as OBIEE, Tableau, Redshift, MicroStrategy

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate with colleagues in both business and technical roles

  • Strong ability to interact, communicate, present and influence within multiple levels of the organization

  • Ability to deal with high level of ambiguity

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workloads
