Providence Health & Services Senior Clinical Data Analyst in Renton, Washington
Providence is calling a Senior Clinical Data Analyst. This role can sit in Providence Valley Office Park in Renton, WA or the System Office in Irvine, CA.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Be responsible for collecting, analyzing, creating visualizations, and storytelling using clinical data through the application of data science techniques.
Work with diverse data types from many millions of clinical encounters in acute and non-acute settings.
Serve as a key member of a team that engineers novel reporting platforms and bring data to bear on hard problems in healthcare by using analytical methods including visualization science, predictive modeling, and biostatistics. The audience for this analyst’s work is the entire Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) system, from members of the Board of Directors to front line caregivers. Areas of particular focus include the measurement of Quality of Care and the Value of Care (i.e. good outcomes per unit cost).
Interact comfortably and independently with clinical and administrative leaders, subject matter experts, and other data engineers, as they evaluate new measures, identify impactful findings in our large clinical data stores, and design novel and strong data visualizations communicating key information across the organization.
Ensure that all work produced by the clinical analytics team is conducted with thoughtful analytical discipline.
Support more junior members of the team through their experience with computational methods.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in computer science informatics, mathematics, physics, or a related analytical or clinical discipline -or- equivalent
5 years of relevant data analysis experience
Strong skills with database query and analysis languages (e.g. SQI, R, SAS, Python) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3)
Knowledge of healthcare including:
Clinical terms and concepts
Administrative Coding, including DRG, ICD, CPT
Ability to display a record of self-motivated discovery, intense intellectual curiosity, and a passion for working with data to answer important questions
Strong aesthetic sensibility that supports clear visual communication of quantitative information
Excellent critical thinking skills as well as good common sense
Ability to set challenging objectives and works against self-defined standards of excellence to continually improve personal performance
Ability to work independently on projects or assignments without close supervision or detailed instructions
Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of staff and vendors
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's degree -or- equivalent
5 years of relevant data analysis experience in a biomedical setting
