Job Description / Information
The Senior Audio Engineer is responsible for audio circuit design, acoustic design, product specification, product verification, and functional/performance testing. The end goal is to deliver a superb audio/acoustics design to the projects that not only meets but also exceeds customer requirements. In addition, this role provides guidance to project development teams, and directs activities of junior members of the department. Self-motivating, self-starting, self-educating are absolutely critical skills for this position.
Develops product specification and design documentation
Develops audio/acoustic performance requirements.
Responsible for mechanical/acoustic design guidance.
Responsible for transducer selection.
Performs system and board level testing and performance verification.
Responsible for voice prompt localization recording activities.
Responsible for voice prompt processing.
Develops audio/acoustic SW functional requirements.
Read and write SW in various coding languages as necessary.
Invent/develop audio and acoustic related algorithms as necessary.
Responsible for design of analog/digital audio circuitry.
Designs prototype circuit boards for early development phases.
Factory manufacturing line support.
Analyzes test data for design verification and validation.
Troubleshoots audio failures from production.
Troubleshoots audio failures after reliability tests.
Organizes audio milestone reviews.
Works with PWB designer to ensure proper layout for all audio traces.
Works with MCU and DSP designers to optimize the overall audio performance.
Networks with other departments, vendors, contractors and outsource suppliers regarding relevant audio/acoustic methods and lessons learned.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
5 years of related discipline experience or 10 years demonstrated audio practical experience
Good understanding and working experience in audio and acoustic design.
Proficient in audio/acoustic testing.
Proficient in use of a Digital Audio Workstation, especially dialog editing.
Experience with programming and scripting languages
Able to understand mechanical drawings
Able to understand electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical component specifications
Master’s degree in engineering or related field
Background in both Physics and Mathematics.
Knowledge in LEAP, CLIO, Praxis, ARTA, SmaartLive, etc. measurement systems
Familiar with studio and location recording
Familiar with post processing including use of EQ, compressors, limiters, D-S, etc.
Analog HW design and signal processing
Digital Signal Processing knowledge
- Normal, fast paced office environment, requires significant use of computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, extended work hours as needed, occasional travel
