The One Commercial Partner (OCP) “build with” channel development team is part of the US OCP organization and combines the partner channel ecosystems of MSP, ERP Disti, LSP, VAR & Surface. The goal of this unified team is to develop an outstanding partner recruit and practice building engagement that will accelerate our partners and Microsoft toward achieving the $1.7T US Digital Transformation Opportunity.


The Partner Development Manager (PDM) will be part of the Data Center Optimization (DCO) team within US OCP organization with a charter of accelerating Azure Datacenter Optimization with our top Managed Service Provider (MSP), ISV/SaaS providers in the United States. The DCO team will serve as incubation/business and technical development resource supporting all US OCP segments with a core focus on driving strategic Azure consumption revenue by identifying, unblocking and winning large, complex Azure opportunities, customer/workload acquisition and partner hybrid cloud adoption and practice building. Success for this role will be measured across key metrics of:

  • Azure Revenue creation (Adoption)

  • Azure Monthly Run rate growth (Consumption)

  • Azure Customer Adds (Migration)

  • Azure Practice Development (Services Launch)


Partner Practice Strategy:

  • Lead strategic growth efforts across partner practices working with broad Microsoft v-team (OCP, WW, Azure CAT, M&O & Corp.) to lead the partner through a datacenter optimization journey.

  • Evangelize the migration and deployment of workloads into Azure and grow consumption by providing deployment guidance, supporting development of the partners cloud adoption model, and providing appropriate recommendations to overcome blockers.

  • Lead deployment of projects, creation of collateral, and training of sellers and partners in your area of specialization.

  • Provide leadership to manage strategic program, partner recruitment, portfolio optimization, partner capacity and capability to grow the Microsoft business in alignment with global partner priorities and strategy.

  • Build high impact relationships with partner senior technical leadership. Lead overall business/sales planning, technical enablement and execution for datacenter optimization across partner teams.

Business Orchestration:

  • Drive One Microsoft orchestration across US OCP teams to secure partner commitment for Datacenter Optimization and Azure acceleration.

  • For assigned engagements, drive adoption of Azure Consumed Revenue and Azure Customer Adds. Evangelize, create and customize guidance to enable partner practice growth.

  • Share best practices and success across subsidiary/area leadership to influence and align strategy & resources to help team achieve targets and drive global expansion.

Partner Business growth:

  • Accountable for the growth of the business across Azure, aligned with the MSP, SaaS, SI and CD partner practice build with & Co-sell teams. Drive business performance measured ACR and MRR growth metrics.

  • Identification of technology opportunities that enable and/or support the creation of differentiated offers in the market built on Azure.

  • Defining the delivery/operational models, including adoption of services and activities.

  • Enable the partner success during pre-sales activities which includes delivery of Proof Of Concepts (POC), Pilots, Prototypes and technical blockers and objections removal.


  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends is required.

  • Broad knowledge of cloud markets (primarily IaaS and PaaS) and hosting segments and competing hyperscale clouds is highly desirable.

  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions and consolidation in Service Providers, ISV/SaaS and Enterprise is required.

  • 2+ years of experience in “migrating” on-premise workloads to the cloud

  • 4+ years Prior work experience in a Consulting/Architecture or product technical evangelism position within a software and/or services company such as SalesForce, Amazon, VMware, Google, IBM, Avanade, T-Systems, Wipro, CSC, HP, Infosys, ServiceNow, Dell, TCS, Rackspace, Softlayer

  • 5+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales enablement and deployment of projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects)

  • 5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)

  • 7-10 years’ experience successfully engineering, developing, selling and marketing technical products and services to and through service providers, ISV/SaaS and CD’s preferably focused on engaging with cloud and hosting providers.

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of an organization both internally and externally, with proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication.

  • Deep technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Software design or development, Cloud Application Design, Mobility, PaaS, Media Services, CDN

  • Working knowledge with AGILE development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) with one or more of the following programming languages: .NET, C++, Java, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive

  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences at all levels of the organization

  • Azure Certifications including 70-534, 70-533 and related Cloud MCSE and/or MCSA required.

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent is required
